Idaho Falls first started as a community which built around Taylor's
Crossing, named after Matt Taylor who built a toll bridge across the Snake River
in 1865. Later, the Idaho Falls Electric Cooperative constructed their famous
artificial falls which is right in the historic downtown area, and part of a
modern power generation plant.
Idaho Falls is proud to be generating its own hydroelectric power giving residents both low electric rates, and the satisfaction of knowing their energy is generated as low-carbon emmisions.
A beautiful river walkway is built around the river to the delight, and
constant use by Idaho Falls citizens. In almost any weather you can find people
feeding the ducks and geese, strolling the walkways, and out for their daily
jogs. This growing metropolitan area is turning into quite a high-tech hub for
Idaho's growing communities. |
